Hackensack's African American community continues to face many challenges both old and new. We must come together as a community to face those challenges with the same if not greater level of commitment as those who came before us. It is our hope that you will join us in building a brighter future for our community as we move through the 21st century and beyond.

What is HAACA?

HAACA, which stands for Hackensack African-American Civic Association, is a member driven organization. Through input from its members, HAACA will:
  • Identify and address issues and concerns facing Hackensack’s African-American Community
  • Develop and implement programs and activities to improve the lives of Hackensack’s African- American Community
  • Plan events to commemorate and celebrate the lives, events and achievements important to Hackensack’s African-American community.

What can I expect as a member?

As a HAACA member you can be as involved in the organization as you want to be – however, it is my hope that you will join a HAACA committee and help shape the direction of HAACA.  HAACA’s programs, events and activities will start at the committee level and we need as much input from HAACA members at the committee level to ensure those programs, events and activities are meeting the needs of members.
